  28. To use Clock Talk, simply select the "chime" and "speak" options you desire for each quarter hour. At the bottom of the dialog is the selected "chime" and "voice" settings used. Chimes are actually system alert sounds. You can record your own using Apple's "Monitors and Sounds" Control Panel.

  30. The volume slider at the right affects the volume of the chime. Speech channels do not have their own volume settings, they instead use the system volume. If you find the speech is too loud, adjust the system volume from the "Monitors and Sounds" Control Panel.

The "Hot Key" is the key you press to have the system speak the time to you. This key allows you to hear the time when you want, even if it does not fall on one of the quarter hour increments. You may change the defeinition of the key by pressing the "Define" button and selecting a the desired Hot Key combination from the popup menu.

  34. The "On" and "Off" buttons work in real-time. To completely disable all chime and speech functions, click on the "Off" button. To re-enable it, simply click on the "On" button. There is no need to restart your system when using these buttons.
